I first saw Mel’s work hanging at Thinkspace Gallery (LA). I adored the simplicity of her images juxtaposed with finite details. Her color palette adds just the right compliment to her subject matter and imagery.
The pictures above are from her new Australian wine bottle series, Strong Arms Shiraz. I came across the bottle at the small, but packs a punch wine store (Artisan) in Beacon, NY while we were living there. I loved seeing her work so unexpectedly walking down the aisle.
Mel lives inĀ Echo Park (Los Angeles) with her boyfriend and fellow artist Travis Millard in a cabin built by Mormon’s in the 1920’s. Pretty neat.

I’ve been working on a wine label for my friend Mike. We were going for a Holga type feel, blown out colors & silhouettes, California Dreamin. Finishing up the type in the next few days is my mission.
